The CNY Arts Center stage glittered this past weekend as a very talented cast of teenagers from all over brought the beloved musical "Anastasia" to life.

This wasn't your typical Broadway production, however. This was a heartwarming display of local youth talent, directed by Jane Garlow, with musical director Joseph Schuessler.  The powerful voices that these teens displayed was anything short of extraordinary.

The show, which runs from May 31st to June 9th, is a special youth edition adapted for grades 7 through 12. The story followed the journey of Anya, a brave young amnesiac with a mysterious past, as she embarks on a quest to discover her true identity. The audience was swept away to a world of glittering Imperial Russia and roaring 1920s Paris, all brought to life by the energetic performances of the young cast, and fabulous costumes from costume designer Tracy Edson, and choreography by Jessie Dobrzynski.

These weren't simply lines memorized and delivered. These teens wove a tapestry of emotions with their voices, leaving the audience captivated by their portrayal of love, loss, and the unwavering pursuit of truth. From Anya's determination to Dmitry's charm and Vlad's scheming wit, the characters surely came alive on the CNY Arts Center stage. The performance undoubtedly showcased the vocal talents of these teens, with unforgettable renditions of beloved songs like "Journey to the Past" and "Once Upon a December", to the show-stopping anthems, these young performers filled the CNY Arts Center with a sound that resonated far beyond the stage.

This production transcended entertainment. It was a powerful declaration from Fulton's youth. They weren't just playing pretend; they were using their voices to tell a story, to move hearts, and to leave a lasting impression. The CNY Arts Center deserves recognition for nurturing this talent and providing a platform for these powerful voices to be heard.

If you missed this delightful performance last weekend, make sure you don’t miss out this weekend, with three final shows available to catch it. June 7-9, Friday and Saturday evening at 7 pm and Sunday matinee at 2 pm.  Tickets are available online at the CNY Arts Center web site. And keep an eye out for future productions at the CNY Arts Center’s “Art Scene”. The center consistently offers a variety of shows and programs, ensuring there's something for everyone. You might just discover the next generation of theatre stars right here in Fulton!
