Author, spea ker Tim Wise to discuss racism, inequality

 

OSWEGO -- Tim Wise, billed as one of the c ountry's leading anti-racism activists and writers, will speak at SUNY Oswe go at 5 p.m.  Tuesday, Sept. 27, in Marano Campus Center auditorium. 

Author of six books about racism and inequality in the United States, Wis e will make a free public presentation on police-community relations and th e Black Lives Matter movement. He has spoken at more than 1,000 college and high school campuses over the past 25 years. 

Wise's most recent book, published in 2015 and titled "Under the Affluence: Shamin g the Poor, Praising the Rich and Sacrificing the Future of America," explo res the roots and ramifications of radical inequality.

Omar a Rivera-Vazquez, a member of SUNY Oswego's public justice faculty and the Affirmative Action Advisement Committee, led the effort to bring Wise to Os wego.
