DESCRIPTION:\nSubmitted photo\nThe H. Lee White Maritime Museum will open its doors fre
e of charge to all Museum Day ticketholders on Saturday September 22, 2018
as part of Smithsonian magazine’s 14th annual Museum Day, a national celebr
ation of boundless curiosity in which participating museums emulate the fre
e admission policy at the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington DC-based mus
eums.\nMuseum Day represents a nationwide commitment to access, equality an
d inclusion. Over 250,000 people downloaded tickets for last year’s event,
and Museum Day 2018 is expected to attract more museum goers than ever befo
re.\nThe theme of this year’s Museum Day is Women Making History, honoring
women in society who are trailblazers in the arts, sciences, innovation and
culture, and emboldening others to be pioneers as well. \nIn such spirit a
nd solidarity, the H. Lee White Maritime Museum will be featuring the “Char
les & Anne Morrow Lindbergh Collection” courtesy of Oswego’s own Patric
ia Cole. The collection contains items representative of Charles Lindbergh’
s place in American history, but more prominently features the life of Anne
Morrow Lindbergh – an unsung pioneer in her own right. In addition, visito
rs are encouraged to explore the over 400 years of maritime history contain
ed within the Museum, and take tours of their historic fleet of vessels, fr
ee of charge.\nMuseum Day tickets are available for download at Smithsonian
.com/MuseumDay. Visitors who present a Museum Day ticket will gain free ent
rance for two at participating venues on September 22, 2018. One ticket is
permitted per email address. A list of participating museums can be found a
t Smithsonian.com/MuseumDay/Search.\nFor more information on this or other
programs and events at the H. Lee White Maritime Museum, call 315-342-0480
