DESCRIPTION:\nThe Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers will be celebrating and hostin
g their 40th annual Pageant of Champions on September 22nd at Joe Wilber fi
eld.\nFive bands will be competing at this year’s Pageant including Indian
River, Auburn, East Syracuse-Minoa, East Irondequoit and Oswego. Tickets ar
e $9 at the gate or $7 presale from any band member. Gates will open at 5:0
0 pm and the show starts at 6:30 pm. Oswego will perform at 7:22pm.\nThis y
ear the 2018 Oswego show is a retelling of Romeo and Juliet with a futurist
ic twist. ROM-eO and Juli-8 focuses on three core elements of Shakespeare’s
tragic love story: conflict, two wire crossed lovers, and their untimely d
emise.\nImagine two digital lovers, running two different operating systems
, where their love is simply incompatible. By defying the code they have be
en programmed to follow, love turns into destruction and the entire network
results in a system failure.\nThe 2018 production features the music of Wh
at is Youth from the 1968 classic film adaption of Romeo and Juliet, Dance
of the Knights from the Prokofiev ballet, and Creep, Paranoid Android, and
Exit music by Radiohead. The program, led by Drum Major Jesse Young, also f
eatures soloists Nicholas Brown, Jack Dodds, Jillian Dowdle and Elizabeth M
artin. Several former drum majors will help to guest conduct the Star Spang
led Banner at the opening of the Pageant.\nThe Buccaneers placed 1st in the
ir recent competition at ESM and are looking forward to competing in New Je
rsey in October.\nOn Friday September 21st, a celebration of the forty year
s of Marching Buccaneers will take place at Bridie Manor. The cost is $25 d
ollars at the door. Doors open at 6 pm. Former directors, band members, and
band parents are welcome to attend the celebration and reminisce over thei
r favorite band memories.\n This event was imported from: https://iloveoswe
