DESCRIPTION:<p>The Oswego Festival Chorus, conducted by Dr. Mihoko Tsutsumi, will prese
 nt its fall concert on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 7:30 pm at St. Mary's C
 atholic Church, 103 West 7th Street, Oswego. Admission to the concert is fr
 ee.</p><p>The chorus will be performing John Rutter's Gloria and, in celebr
 ation of the Christmas season, will also perform Rutter's Joy to the World.
 </p><p>Rutter was born in England in 1945 and studied at Clare College, Cam
 bridge. He composes orchestral and instrumental pieces, but is primarily a 
 choral composer whose compositions are comprised of anthems, Christmas caro
 ls, and extended works, such as, Gloria, the Requiem, the Magnificat, Psalm
 fest, and Mass of the Children.</p><p>The Gloria was composed in 1974 and w
 as first conducted by Rutter in Omaha, Nebraska.<br />Joy to the World incl
 udes fifteen popular Christmas carols and Christmas hymns arranged and orch
 estrated by Rutter. Some featured carols are O Come All Ye Faithful, Joy to
  the World, Three Kings of Orient, and God Rest Ye Merry, Gentleman, and mo
 re.</p><p>The College Choir and the Oswego State Singers will be performing
  with the chorus on Joy to the World. The audience will be invited to parti
 cipate in the singing.</p><p>The Oswego Festival Chorus is a non-auditioned
  SATB choir that performs classical, choral music. It was formed in 1960 un
 der the direction of Dr. Maurice O. Boyd. The mission of the choir is to pr
 omote choral music and to share the joy of music with the community. The ch
 oir consists of students, faculty, staff, and community members. The repert
 oire focuses on master works, usually with orchestral accompaniment and als
