AmeriCU Credit Union Celebrates National Volunteer Week with Regional Community Service Efforts

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, AmeriCU Credit Union employees rolled up their sleeves across Central New York, the North Country, the Mohawk Valley, and the Adirondacks to give back to the communities they serve.

Through a series of hands-on volunteer opportunities, AmeriCU teammates demonstrated the credit union’s long-standing commitment to the “people helping people” philosophy.

On April 23, employees partnered with A Tiny Home for Good at the Lead Freedom House, assisting with interior touch-ups and outdoor landscaping to help bring a new home to life for individuals in need. Earlier in the week, volunteers also participated in an Earth Day cleanup at Proctor Park on April 22 alongside GreenUtica, where they collected more than ten bags of trash, while another group supported a Zoo New York Beautification Project to help maintain welcoming and vibrant community spaces.

For employees unable to volunteer in person, AmeriCU organized a letter-writing campaign in support of upcoming Honor Flights scheduled later this year in Syracuse and Plattsburgh, ensuring every employee had an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

“What stood out most across all of these efforts was the passion and dedication our volunteers brought with them,” said Dominic Tricase, Deputy Director at A Tiny Home for Good. “The AmeriCU team came ready to work, jumped in wherever needed, and left a real, lasting impact in just a few hours.”

“At AmeriCU, our employees are passionate about supporting the communities we serve—and that commitment goes beyond meeting your financial needs,” said Vanessa Szwejbka, AVP Community Relations at AmeriCU Credit Union and Executive Director of the AmeriCU Charitable Foundation. “Volunteering alongside our neighbors is a cornerstone of our values.”

Through these volunteer efforts, AmeriCU continues to strengthen community connections and support organizations that help make its communities healthier, more vibrant places to live and work.
