Daniel W. “Boone” Abbott Sr., 75, of Oswego, passed away on May 17, 2026.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Donald and Geraldine (Arnold) Abbott.

Daniel worked as an inspector at Oswego Wire for more than 10 years. Before that, he worked at Nestlé, Paper Tronics, and Oswego Castings. He enjoyed many pastimes such as playing pool, horseshoes, golfing, and bowling. Daniel was also an active member of the Sons of the American Legion in Oswego, where he could often be found cooking chicken for benefits and community events.

Daniel will be remembered for his quick wit, great sense of humor, and the fun he brought everywhere he went. He loved joking around and had a way of making people laugh. He was always willing to help his family and friends, whether they needed a hand with something or help fixing a car. Daniel was always there for anyone who needed him.

He was especially proud of his family and loved sharing his granddaughter’s accomplishments. He also had a special place in his heart for his granddog, Jax, whom he loved watching and spending time with.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Susino) Abbott; his daughter, Rebecca (Christopher) Shutts; his sons, Daniel W. Abbott Jr. and Timothy (Jill) Abbott; and his granddaughter, Kiersten Abbott. He is also survived by his siblings, Scott Abbott, Thomas Abbott, Sharon Ketchum, Dawn Lindell, Marcia Seymour, Mary Abbott, and Geraldine Allen, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Abbott and Jackie Abbott.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 21st, from 4-6 PM, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego. Funeral Services will be private.

Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
