The daughter of the late John and Emma (Lamb) Pfeifer, she was a graduate of the Oswego High School class of 1948. Marg owned and operated McDonald’s Fashions in downtown Oswego before closing and retiring in 1995.
Marg enjoyed spending summers at her family cottage in Fair Haven, NY. Marg was involved in many community organizations. She spearheaded the formation of the DOERS (Downtown Oswego Energetic Retailers), and served many terms as its chairperson. Other associations and leadership positions included H. Lee White Marine Museum, Salvation Army, Oswego Chamber of Commerce, Oswego Business & Professional Women’s Club, Zonta Club of Oswego (recipient of Zonta’s Woman of Achievement Award in 1993), Oswego Hospital, and Springside Retirement Community.
Marg was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Minetto, NY. She served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister for many years.
Marg was predeceased by her parents, John and Emma Pfeifer; sisters Mary (John) Burns of Webster, and Emma Jean Crandall of Rochester; and brother Sgt. Fredrick Pfeifer (USMC).
She is survived by daughter Margo (Rob Pendleton) of Binghamton, NY, and son Mark (Penney) of Brewerton, NY; sisters Sr. Mariam Pfeifer, IHM, of Scranton, PA., and JoAnne (John) Smith of Brewerton, NY; brother John (Joanne) Pfeifer of Chandler, AZ; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday, July 7, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 at Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, East Second Street in Oswego. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 9:00, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Minetto, NY. Interment following in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
