The Oswego Players, Inc. announce the cast of the upcoming production of “Way Down East.” Directed by veteran Player, Rick Sivers, the play will be presented on the stage of the Frances Marion Brown Theater in the Oswego Civic Arts Center the first two weekends in May.
Cast members is composed of both individuals familiar to Oswego audiences and a number of newcomers to the stage. Included in the cast are Steve Standish, Kristin Nilsen, Jeremy James, Cassandra Slough, Norman Berlin III, Pablo Mendoza, Beverly Murtha, Mike Otis, Rachel Leotta, Michael Calobrisi and Matthew Fleming.
“Way Down East” was written in Oswego, by Oswego native Lottie Blair Parker and opened in New York City in 1898 and became one of the most successful plays of the era. The comedy-melodrama is a rich blend of stereotypical characters set in New England.
“Way Down East” will be presented on Friday and Saturday, May 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 8 pm and Sunday, May 15 at 2 pm. For reservations, persons can all the Players’ box office at 343-5138. The play is being presented in conjunction with the Bicentennial of Oswego County and a theater exhibit at the Richardson-Bates House Museum.
