OPTION ~ NO OPTION ™
______________________
Clear communication and understanding between dog and handler is key to a successful outcome during training and real life situations. This informative workshop will teach participants how to clearly communicate to their dog what his options are in any specific situation or environment. Dogs learn to look to their handlers for guidance and “permission” when deciding how to respond or react to changes in their environment i.e. distractions such as other dogs or people. By providing the dog with a finite number of acceptable options a handler puts the dog in the position to make a decision that leads to a successful outcome for both the dog and handler.
This technique takes advantage of the dog’s individual motivations, making it a must have in every handlers and/or trainers toolbox. Option ~ No Option™ has been successfully used and taught by Monique for years when working with dogs of all breeds and ages (puppies to adults) including those labeled as high drive or temperamental.
Learn to recognize and understand:
1. What you see in front of you & what you have
i.e. You always have something to bring the dog in the direction you,
the handler, wants to go
2. Where is your rewarding point
I.e. What is the first thing you are going to reward the dog for
3. How to better communicate with your dog in a way he understands
4. What’s on your dog’s mind
i.e. Recognize the difference between what your dog is “doing” behavior wise (what you maybe seeing) vs where he is actually focused & where his intentions are (what you actually have)
Option ~ No Option™ has been used successfully for:
Behavior Modification
- Moderating Arousal Levels
