Navigating the Calendar
We get it! There's a lot to see here. That's why we've added a number of ways for you to find what you're looking for... and to browse smarter.
- To view event listings by town or city, use the Location Filter to the right.
- Browse by event type by clicking on the category you'd like to see more of; for example, clicking on "Free" will pull up all calendar entries that you do not have to pay to participate in.
- You can also type in keywords into the calendar's search bar, such as "yoga" or "bingo."
Does your child want to learn how to snowshoe? Better yet do you want to introduce your child to snowshoeing? Perhaps you have never experienced it yourself. Perhaps its been years since you have and would like to experience it again, alongside your child(ren). Well now is your chance!
We will be offering family friendly, introductions to snowshoeing for ages 4 and up. Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.
Kids on the Canal Snowshoe Treks will offer your child and you, the opportunity to experience health, history and nature while exploring the Oswego's winter wonderland, canal-side. Licensed Guide, Jennifer will offer instruction, techniques and a guided trek on the greenspace located on the Oswego Canal between Lock 7 and Lock 8.
Children should wear snow pants, warm winter boots, gloves, hat and bring along a scarf or face covering of sorts. Adults should dress similarly although snow pants are not necessary if you don't own a pair.
Depending on the weather conditions, we will trek about for no more than an hour. Participants can warm at the Oswego Tea Company after our trek and enjoy hot cocoa or a warm lunch if desired at their own expense.
Cost includes snowshoes, guide and instruction- $5.00 per child and $10.00 per adult. Reservations must be made in advance.
