Navigating the Calendar
We get it! There's a lot to see here. That's why we've added a number of ways for you to find what you're looking for... and to browse smarter.
- To view event listings by town or city, use the Location Filter to the right.
- Browse by event type by clicking on the category you'd like to see more of; for example, clicking on "Free" will pull up all calendar entries that you do not have to pay to participate in.
- You can also type in keywords into the calendar's search bar, such as "yoga" or "bingo."

You can register for the Monday night sessions or Tuesday night sessions. Private lessons are also available.
This is an eight-hour class (four two-hour sessions) for those interested in learning how to draw realistic portraits. This is a beginner class and students will learn the techniques for creating a portrait in graphite (pencil).
Supplies will be provided and will be yours to keep. The only supply not provided is a 0.5 refillable mechanical pencil holder. The reason I don't provide these is because it's important that it fit comfortably in your hand. Some people prefer thin writing instruments and others prefer thick. Most are sold with HB lead. You will not need the lead. I will provide leads as we don't use HB. Mechanical pencil holders range from a couple dollars to $20. Be sure to get 0.5 so the leads will fit properly. I use Pentel Kerry https://www.amazon.com/Pentel-Mechanical-Pencil-Metallic-P1035A/dp/B0006SW6YO. Walmart also has a selection of mechanical pencils.
Drawing boards will be provided for use. They are not included in the supplies.
You will need to bring two 8x10 copies of the portrait you want to draw--one color and one black and white. Be sure to print the black and white from the color photo. Don't copy it in b&w on a copier. The grayscale needs to be accurate and a copy won't do that.
The picture you chose should be a closed-lipped (teeth are an advanced technique) headshot, face forward. If you have questions about a picture, contact me.
I will be scheduling a make-up class in case there is a weather cancellation or if someone misses a class.
Anyone can draw if they take the time to learn the proper techniques. The first class will teach these techniques and you won't be starting to draw until week two.
The cost is $175 and a nonrefundable deposit of $50 is required with the balance due the first night of class.
Can't attend or live out-of-town? I offer classes via Skype. Message me for more information. Reserve your seat now! All reservations must be in by Jan. 22.
Payments can be made via Paypal, check or credit/debit card.
