Navigating the Calendar
We get it! There's a lot to see here. That's why we've added a number of ways for you to find what you're looking for... and to browse smarter.
- To view event listings by town or city, use the Location Filter to the right.
- Browse by event type by clicking on the category you'd like to see more of; for example, clicking on "Free" will pull up all calendar entries that you do not have to pay to participate in.
- You can also type in keywords into the calendar's search bar, such as "yoga" or "bingo."
Yacht Club to host "Try Sailing" event
The Oswego Yacht Club has scheduled a "Try Sailing" event for Friday evening, September 21, continuing on Saturday, September 22. Community members from teenagers to adults interested in trying sailing are invited to participate. The event will begin on Friday from 6-8 pm when participants are asked to meet at the Yacht Club for a sailing mini-clinic, safety briefing, and "OYC meet and greet" to include snacks and a complimentary beverage. Also on Friday, participants will be able to register for one of two on-the-water sessions scheduled for 10am and noon on Saturday.
The on-the-water sessions will include sailing around Oswego Harbor and nearby Lake Ontario on member captained sail boats ranging from 19 to 30 feet in length. As with most outdoor activities, the on-the-water sessions are weather dependent and participants will be asked to dress accordingly.
Following the on-the-water sessions, OYC's final regatta, the Haulout Regatta, will commence at 3:00pm. During the Haulout regatta there may be opportunities for Try Sailing participants to "Try Racing."
The Try Sailing event is geared toward introducing beginners to the sport of sailing, and follow-up sailing clinics are planned for the winter months.
