We get it! There's a lot to see here. That's why we've added a number of ways for you to find what you're looking for... and to browse smarter.
- To view event listings by town or city, use the Location Filter to the right.
- Browse by event type by clicking on the category you'd like to see more of; for example, clicking on "Free" will pull up all calendar entries that you do not have to pay to participate in.
- You can also type in keywords into the calendar's search bar, such as "yoga" or "bingo."
Planetarium show: "Cepheid Variable Stars"

The “distance ladder” is a series of techniques to measure larger distances to map out the known universe. The Cepheid Variable distance method discovered a century ago was used to get the size of our Milky Way galaxy and show that the Andromeda spiral was far outside it. In recent decades, Dr. Shashi Kanbur of Oswego's physics faculty and collaborators have fine-tuned this distance method by noting and modeling a subtle non-linearity in the data, providing a more accurate measure of the size and age of the universe.
