Great Lakes Seaway "Chat"
Tuesday, May 06, 2014, 08:00am - 11:00am

The past five years have seen a tremendous amount of change regarding the funding and management of scenic byways, including the Great Lakes Seaway Trail, and we would like to gain your insight and thoughts on how SWT can better help your community and region participate in planning the future direction of how the trail is marketed, interpreted, and planned for development. In the past five years we have seen the end of the National Scenic Byway Program as a federally funded and managed initiative; the loss of the America Byways Resource Center; the loss of our founding President /CEO Teresa Mitchell; and, most recently the departure of our President/CEO since June 2012, Mike Bristol. At the same time, NYS has modified how it funds scenic byway projects, now including them in the state Economic Development Council funding process.

All of these events have had an effect on how SWT can respond to your needs, and assist your community. At these "chats" we will provide you with a brief update on the exciting events/activities currently underway by SWT, and invite your thoughts and comments as part of an open forum.

We will be having 5 "chats" across the trail and would welcome your participation at a "chat" convenient to you. If there are others that you think should be included, please feel free to pass this email along.
