Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C-Pulaski) today announced that he will host a blood drive with City of Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow to benefit the American Red Cross.

The drive will be held on Friday May 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Roy C. McCrobie Building on 41 Lake Street, Oswego.

“My office is proud to partner once again with the Red Cross and Mayor Barlow to help in providing an opportunity for people to donate blood locally. The need for blood is always critical. My office is happy to help where we can,” said Leader Barclay. “I encourage anyone who is able to donate to please call my office and schedule an appointment. It saves lives.”

“Donating blood is an easy way to help our neighbors, friends and loved ones who are undergoing medical treatments or who have experienced trauma. Just a small sacrifice can make a huge difference in someone’s life,” said Barlow. “I look forward to seeing some new and familiar faces at this year’s event.”

Eligible donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be 16- to 75-years-old (16-year-olds must have parental permission, age 76 and over need a doctor’s note), and cannot have received a tattoo within the past year. Donors are encouraged to eat and be well hydrated prior to giving blood.
