Paddle for the Kids!
Join us for the third annual Oswego Dragon Festival Saturday, September 6, 2014 on beautiful Lake Ontario in Oswego, NY. Get your team together and paddle for a cause! Funds raised support the Oswego YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. The 2013 Oswego Dragon Festival raised more than $64,000 for the Oswego Y Strong Kids Campaign!
Music, Food and More! All day long come experience Dragon Boating while listening to music, shopping at the Dragon Marketplace or relaxing by the water enjoying a meal. There will be facepainting, air hops and crafts to keep the kids busy in Dragonland. Stop by the Chinese Cultural tent and learn about the history of dragonboating or try a traditonal game played by children in China.
Racing will be at Breitbeck Park on Lake Ontario in Oswego beginning at 9am. Championship Race will be at approximately 3pm.Teams of 20 paddlers, a drummer and steerer race in authentic Hong Kong-style, 40-foot-long dragon boats on a 200m course. All skill levels and physiques can paddle, making it the ultimate team building sport, requiring synchronicity and finesse, more than power to win.
