The H. Lee White Maritime Museum is pleased to present the fourth lecture in the 2014 History Lecture Series titled “John Big Tree to Oliver Red Cloud: My Journey in Discovering Native Americans” with historian George DeMass.
The program is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the museum located in Oswego’s Historic Maritime District.
DeMass will share his pilgrimage with the audience in the hopes of helping to present a better understanding of our Native American neighbors, their journey, and their spirituality.
DeMass is a retired ordained Presbyterian minister who was first appointed to the position of Town of Oswego Historian while attending high school in 1960, a position he again now occupies 50 years later. He also serves as president of the Oswego Town Historical Society and is on the board of the Safe Haven Museum and Education Center.
In addition to the talk, DeMass will be available to sign his recently released book “Images of America: Town of Oswego.” The books will be available for sale at the museum’s gift shop.
