We get it! There's a lot to see here. That's why we've added a number of ways for you to find what you're looking for... and to browse smarter.
- To view event listings by town or city, use the Location Filter to the right.
- Browse by event type by clicking on the category you'd like to see more of; for example, clicking on "Free" will pull up all calendar entries that you do not have to pay to participate in.
- You can also type in keywords into the calendar's search bar, such as "yoga" or "bingo."
SUNY Oswego students Marie Sova and Lily Tringali host a virtual literary salon and awards ceremony, which is free and open to the public. All-star authors will read their work, and judges will announce and discuss the winners of the 2025 Subnivean Awards, an international competition run by the university's student-run literary magazine, Subnivean.
The 2025 Subnivean Awards finalists are authors Madeline Rosales, Michael Loyd Gray, B. Fulton Jennes, Sara Burnett and Jaime Gill, submitting writing that gives voice to a broad range of experiences and themes. The five authors hail from in far-flung locations—from Washington state, South Carolina, Maryland and Connecticut in the United States to East Sussex, “across the pond.”
In celebration of Subnivean’s fifth anniversary, this year’s judges are from the Central New York region: judging in poetry is Albert Abonado, author of the 2024 National Poetry Series book "A Field Guide for Accidents." Judging in fiction is Soma Mei Sheng Frazier, with a new novel forthcoming from Macmillan on the heels of her debut, "Off the Books," which earned positive reviews from The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Kirkus, Publishers Weekly and others, and was included in Bustle's "Most Anticipated" roundup.
