Join guest speaker Fred Leff for a talk on the biology of Sandhill Cranes, conservation efforts to maintain the local ecology, and the true spectacle of their massive migration. Fred was fortunate to work in a "job-sharing" opportunity at the Lain Nicholson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary on the Platte River in south-central Nebraska. Every year, during "Crane Season," over a million Sandhill Cranes migrate from their wintering grounds in Texas and New Mexico to their breeding grounds in Canada, Alaska, and even Siberia. Fred will share his experiences and knowledge of the sandhill crane and its spectacular migration.
