The Art Association of Oswego strives to create opportunities for the community to engage in the arts and education surrounding the arts.
With funding from the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and support from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, the AAO has organized a series of youth art classes, called Afternoon Art, to encourage creativity and connections within Oswego’s youth.
There is no charge for these art classes, and no registration. It is on a first come, first served basis. The classes will be Sundays from 2-4pm, for ages 8-18, July 7th through August 25th. The AAO art galleries open at one o’clock on Sunday, so come early since class size will be limited. All supplies and materials needed for the class will be provided.
Students will have a chance to follow guided lessons and activities led by local artists in areas of expertise including: painting, collage, print making, pastels, and more! Beginning on July 7th, the instructor, Marylynn Jones, a former graphic designer, will lead a class in landscape collage, combining decoupaging and painting. On July 14th, Charlotte Arcadi will teach, July 21st will be Larry Rapshaw, and on the 28th will be Lee Shelton. In August, the instructors will be August 4th and 11th print maker Bill DeMott, on the 18th Larry Rapshaw, and Robert Jones on the last day of class, the 25th.
Please wear art-making friendly clothing.
