
Alice Marie Griffin, 66, a former resident of Simeon-Dewitt Apartments in Oswego, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, at the Oswego Hospital.
Alice was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late Daniel and Virginia (Riordan) Griffin. She was a life resident.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a cook at the Pontiac Nursing Home. She was a former participant in the Federal Job Corps Program.
Alice was an enthusiastic volunteer for the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Drive, and also collected thousands of aluminum pull-tabs to help those in need of dialysis treatment.
She enjoyed playing bingo, and especially loved going out dancing, and listening to local bands.
She is survived by a son, Daniel (Christina) Griffin of Oswego; two brothers, Marty (Dana) Griffin of Oswego, and Richard (Patricia) Griffin of Oswego; a sister, Geraldine Griffin of Oswego; two grandchildren, Peter and Teagan; two nieces, Meghan Griffin and Julie Griffin; and two nephews, Peter Griffin and Joseph Griffin; and an uncle, Paul Riordan.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 Wednesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 Wednesday, prior to the service, at the funeral home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
