Write a commentAllen Ted Todd, a resident of Oswego Town, passed away peacefully January 26, 2019 with his wife by his side.
Born in Oswego Town on August 16, 1934 to Tracy and Edith (Laurent) Todd. Ted graduated from Oswego High School in 1952 and later joined the military and was stationed in Korea.
Ted married his high school sweetheart, Carol (Ruttan) of Oswego and recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. He retired from Carrier Corporation after 31 years.
He was a charter member of the Oswego Town Fire Department and served as Chairman of Fire Commissioners for 30 years.
He was active in Oswego Elks, serving as Exalted Ruler 1990-1991, and New York State Elks Association Vice President 2005-2006, he also served over 20 years as Chairman of Cerebral Palsy (CP) Committee.
Ted enjoyed being active with his family and community. Serving as Sunday School Superintendent, working Bingo, Fish Dinners and even received his bus drivers license to drive for the Drum and Bugle Corp. He loved spending time with his family and took time out for vacation and camping every year.
Ted was predeceased by a brother, Robert, of Florida in 1991 and son, Bruce, of Oswego in 2014.
Ted will be missed dearly by wife, Carol (Ruttan) of Oswego. Twin daughters, Kathy (Rick) Joseph and Karen (Lee) Zukovsky, both of Oswego. Daughter-in-law, Deborah Todd of Oswego, five grand children; Nicole, Andrew, Ryan, Elizabeth and Justin and three great-grandchildren; Dominic and Evan Gessner, and Addison Holiday.
Services will be held Friday, February 1st from 2 to 6 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany Street, Oswego.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2nd at 11 am at Journey of Faith United Methodist Church, 7721 State Route 104 W, Oswego.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to charity of your choice. Spring burial will be in the Rural Cemetery.
