Write a commentWith deepest sorrow we announce that Andrea Schrader, age 52 beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend passed suddenly and peacefully at her home in Providence Rhode Island on June 4, 2019.
She was born on November 19, 1966 in Oswego New York, then daughter of the late Paul and Penny Schrader.
She loved reading, theatre and the arts, but her greatest joy was undoubtedly writing. Andrea loved to create and tell a good story, and listening to her tell those stories, in the way only Andrea could, will be missed by all. She was known for being an exceptional host, and truly enjoyed entertaining friends and family, especially around the holidays. She was always so generous with both her time and exquisitely wrapped and thoughtful gifts. She also had a deep love and respect for all animals, especially her beloved beagles Jackson and Lilly whom she raised with her former husband of 11 years Michael Brophy.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in communications from Oswego State University in 1988. Andrea worked in public relations in both New York City and Boston, and later started her own public relations firm, Kryptonite Communications. She was actively involved in politics, a passion she inherited listening to discussions between her father and grandfather while growing up. She worked as a public relations consultant for the Democratic National Committee until her passing.
Andrea is survived by her brother Matthew (Jennifer) Schrader, Nephews Jacob and Zachary Schrader, Aunts Jaqueline (Ronald) Babcock, Constance (William) Hogan, Pamela (Edward) Hammond, Victoria (Scott) Nesbitt, Uncle Michael Schrader and many loving cousins.
A Celebration of life and memorial service is scheduled for July 12, 2019 at 11AM in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Nelson Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Andrea’s name to Best Friends Animal Society @www.bestfriends.org.
