Ann M. Smegelsky, 80 of Oswego passed away Monday morning at the Oswego Hospital.
She was born in Oswego and was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Elsie Lewis Thompson.
Mrs. Smegelsky was the widow of the late Francis W. Smegelsky who died in 2005.
Ann had been employed for many years as the Deputy City Clerk in the City of Oswego until her retirement in 1999.
She was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church and had been very active on the Oswego High School Reunion Committees.
She enjoyed quilting with the ladies in her group, gardening and decorating.
Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.
Mrs. Smegelsky is survived by her children, Kathleen Comerford of Oswego, James (JoAnn) Smegelsky of Oswego and Mary (Pat) Virginia of Camillus, two brothers Jack Thompson of Oswego, David (Carolyn) Thompson of Oswego, two sisters Rita (Robert) McCormack of Norcross, Georgia, Theresa (Mark) Thesier of Edenton North Carolina, sister in-law Pam Thompson of Zephyrhills, Florida, seven grandchildren, Mackenzie (Scott) Verburg. Caitlin (Steve) Carroll, Colin Comerford, Amanda (Dan) LaBernardo, Matthew (Kara) Smegelsky, Steven Parkhurst, Joshua (Joyce) Parkhurst, ten great grandchildren who affectionately called her “Big G” and several neices and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son Frank J. Smegelsky, a daughter, Susan Smegelsky, a son in-law James Comerford, a brother James Thompson, a grandson James Cook, a niece Jacquelyn Colarusso and a nephew, Trevor McCormack.
Funeral services will be Friday 10:30AM from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and at 11AM in St. Paul’s Church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-7PM at the funeral home.
