Jack O'Leary, a fifth grade student at Frederick Leighton Elementary School in Oswego, presents Karrie Damm (r), executive director of the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County (CAC), with a check for $110.
When his Mother, Katie O'Leary (l), explained to Jack what the CAC does and that some kids have tougher lives than other kids, Jack decided that rather than presents for his birthday he would ask for donations to the CAC. "I wanted to give these donations to the CAC so that they can help kids who have tougher lives and don't have many things. Maybe it can make their lives a little better," he said. "We're grateful for this donation and so proud of Jack," said Damm. "It's inspiring to see children helping each other."
Located at 301 Beech Street in Fulton, the CAC is a non-profit organization that works hand-in-hand with local law enforcement, prosecution, child protective services, medical providers, mental health providers, and victim advocacy professionals in Oswego County to protect and serve child victims of sexual and physical abuse. In 2014 the CAC provided advocacy and mental health services to 465 children and their families in Oswego County that are victims of child abuse.
