Write a commentArlene L. Johnson, 88, a resident of Bishop’s Commons in Oswego, and a former resident of the town of Oswego, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024.
She was born in Southwest Oswego, the daughter of the late Roneth and Violet (Dutcher) Engle and was a life resident of the area. Arlene was the wife of the late Harold E. Johnson, who died on November 2, 2023.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a secretary at SUNY-Oswego. She had previously worked for the City of Oswego and the Oswego City School District.
Arlene was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, where she was very active in babysitting and many church activities. She was an avid bridge player, and loved golfing, gardening, sewing, knitting, quilting, and attending Oswego Lakers hockey games. She and her husband also enjoyed volunteering at the O’Mara Welcome Center on Route 104 in Oswego, for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Roosa of Sterling, and Nancy Miller of Oswego; a son, Kenneth (Camille) Johnson of Oswego, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, siblings, and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Daniel Johnson, who died in 2017.
Funeral services will be private and burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
