Arlene Reynolds Blum, 76, entered her eternal rest on January 14, 2014 in the arms of her family.
She was born on September 30, 1937 to the late John "Rusty" and Clara (Paulik) Reynolds and lived her entire life in Oswego. On July 19, 1958 she married Donald Blum and together they raised their eight children and welcomed 17 grandchildren.
After graduating from Oswego High School in 1955, she worked for Niagara Mohawk until she began her family. She was very involved in her children's activities and could frequently be found cheering them on at Little League games – where she coined the term "bleacher blisters", attending many school concerts and activities, and was fondly dubbed "the uniform lady" for the OHS Marching Buccaneers and concert bands. But her 17 grandchildren were the center of her universe. She attended as many of their games, plays and concerts as she could, sometimes traveling hundreds of miles to do so.
She leaves behind a large and loving family: her husband Don Blum, sons Gary (Nancy Brown), Lawrence (Cheryl), Christopher (Kathy Clary), Timothy (Carie) and Michael (Amy Orr) and daughters Jeannine (Eric Kaminski) Blum, Lisa (Michael) Gray and Maureen (Doug) King and her grandchildren: Christopher Fantom, Amanda (Greg) Wroblewski, Lindsay Fantom, Jeffrey Blum, Kailyn Gray, Paige Blum, Tyler Gray, Timothy Fantom, Christopher Dennis, Craig Blum, Caroline Gray, Evan King, Emilee Guyer, Lauren Blum, Rachel Blum, Abigail King and Nathan Blum. She is also survived by her sisters Valerie (Ted) Hill and Emilie (Bob) Manning and her brothers David (Donna) Reynolds and Thomas Reynolds.
She was predeceased by her brothers Michael and Patrick Reynolds.
Funeral Services will be held 8:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 3-7 p.m. Friday, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.
