Assembly and Senate Republicans Rename Legislation "Laken's Law" in Memory of Georgia Nursing Student

Assembly Republican Leader Will Barclay (R,C-Pulaski), Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt and members of their Conferenceswill hold a press conference today, Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 10:00 a.m. to draw attention to recently introduced legislation related to the migrant crisis and rename the bill "Laken's Law" following the murder of Georgia nursing student, Laken Riley.  

  Earlier this month, Assemblyman Jarett Gandolfo (R,C-Sayville) and Sen. Andrew Lanza introduced legislation that would restore cooperation between New York courts and law enforcement agencies with federal immigration authorities in cases involving the arrest or conviction of illegal migrants. The suspect who has been charged with the murder of Laken is a migrant who was arrested previously in Queens, was charged and released.
