Oswego Kartway returns to action Friday, Aug. 2, with the running of the R.J. Kart Sales & Service 'Battle at the Bullring.'
At the Races
Historic Jim Shampine Drive, which connects Route 104 to East Albany Street just in front of Oswego Speedway, will be re-dedicated in honor of the late Speedway champion this Saturday, Aug. 3, prior to the running of the 27th annual Mr. Novelis Supermodified event.
The third and final round of the Novelis Fan Can Chase will take place this Saturday, Aug. 3, as a part of the 27th annual $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified event at Oswego Speedway.
The second richest race in all of Supermodified racing, next to the Budweiser International Classic 200, will take the green flag this Saturday night, Aug. 3, at Oswego Speedway as the title of Mr. Novelis Supermodified is on the line with a hefty prize of $10,000 awaiting the winner.
Oswego Kartway was greeted with beautiful blue skies last Friday and a total of 81 kart racers ready to take on the tight 'Bullring' clay oval presented by GS Steamers Bar & Grill of Oswego.
While Oswego Speedway is closed for racing action this Saturday due to the annual Harborfest weekend, Oswego Kartway will continue as planned on Friday night with GS Steamers Bar & Grill Night at the Races.
Oswego Kartway recently announced its 2014 regular season schedule with a total of 17 events set from April through August continuing on Friday nights behind Oswego Speedway.
After leading all 50 laps in the small block supermodified division race Sunday, Andrew Shartner took the checkered flag, winning the 63rd Annual Sunoco Race of Champions (ROC) event. Pictured, Andrew Schartner, center, stands in Oswego's Turning Stone Resort Casino Victory Lane with runner-up Anthony Losurdo, right, and third-place finisher Brian Sobus. All three of these top three feature finishers also took Friday evening's qualifying heat wins as well.
It took until the final event of July, but there is now a repeat winner in the Novelis Supermodified division at Oswego Speedway.
