The Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center will be holding some exciting programs this fall.
The first will be on Saturday, October 21st at 2:00 p.m. The environmental educator will give a brief presentation on geocaching, then the group will head out and try to find the four geocaches hidden on the Center's property. This program is for beginners or expert geocachers of all ages, individuals or families. All youth must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. The fee for this program is only $4 per person, or $12 for a family. Children under the age of three are free! Preregistration is requested. It is recommended that one individual per family/group has the free smartphone app downloaded before coming to the program, so you can follow along and learn how to use the app, which can be found at the official Geocaching website - https://www.geocaching.com/play/mobile.
On Sunday, November 19th at 1:00 p.m., the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center is celebrating America Recycles Day. The 4-H educators will host a hands-on program reusing old wool sweaters to make mittens. This program is intended for intermediate sewers of all ages; individuals should be able to sew curves. Participants will be cutting their mittens using a provided pattern and sewing them together. The fee is $15 for 4-H to supply machine, notions, and sweater, or $10 if bringing personal machine, notions, and sweater. (Notions include needle, thread, pins, etc.) Please notify the office if you are planning to bring most supplies but would like to use some of 4-H's (scissors, for example).
For more information on these programs and to register, visit http://thatscooperativeextension.org/events. If you aren't able to attend the programs, trails are open from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year. There is no parking fee, and there is a map of the trails when you arrive.
