Barbara Maria Neild Sagneri Fitzgerald, 78, of Oswego, died December 25, 2017 at the Oswego Hospital.
Barbara was a CSEA member. She worked in book processing for many years, then in the Oswego High School guidance office as a typist until retirement in 1998. She was also a lifelong member of Home Bureau.
Barbara was the kind of woman who was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She was known as “Nana” to everyone. She was generous and giving to a fault. She loved her family above all else, and wanted nothing more than to spend time with them.
Barbara was predeceased by her mother, Lucille (Tanner) Neild, father Earl H. Neild, husbands Philip L. Sagneri and Maurice J. Fitzgerald, sisters Bonnie (Neild) Sherwood, Brenda I. (Neild) Church, a brother Gene Neild and a son Mark Sagneri.
Barbara is survived by a sister Verna (Neild) Kelly, two daughters, Crystal (Sagneri) Burke and Brenda (Sagneri) Mekeel; grandchildren Angelina Mekeel, Danielle Burke, Jeremy Burke, Mark Barker, Stephany (Sagneri) Beshures, Kristy Sagneri, Mark Sagneri; several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
Barbara’s own words are as follow; “To those who loved and cared for me, have a wonderful life. The rest of you can go to hell.”
“Some people only remember negative things about growing up as one of “Nana’s kids”. I remember scraped knees, wounded pride, and the tightest warmest hugs and loving words. I remember feeling lost and being found. I remember her love in all of its’ forms; rough and gentle, hard and soft. Her love was unconditional in everything she did. those that couldn’t appreciate that love didn’t deserve to have it or her.” -ALM
There will be no services per Barbara’s wishes. There will be a celebration of life party, to the announced later in the Spring.
The family would like to thank the Morningstar C-Wing staff for the care and support. She had her favorites, you know who you are.
