Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of Ruth (Nearbin) Legates of Oswego and the late Raymond Duane Wilson.
She was a US Navy Veteran. She worked as a Medical Secretary for Oswego Health.
She enjoyed writing poetry and was published. She loved spending time with her family.
Surviving, besides her mother, are husband, Jack Hayes; two daughters, Gabrielle Hayes of Fulton and Rachel Hayes of Fulton; two sons, Jon Hayes of Fulton; David Hayes, of North Carolina; brothers, Buddy (Jessica) Wilson; Scott (Trish) Legates; Ralph (Vicki) Legates, all of Oswego; Raymond Wilson, of Georgia; sisters, Louella (Mark) Forbes, of Oswego; Tanya Wheeler of Oswego; Duana (Chris) Morton of Georgia; Dolly (Scott) Justice of Georgia; Terri Tolbert of Florida;Jeanette (Mike) Markowski of Sterling; Kathy Crouch of Sterling; step-mother Edna Wilson of Georgia; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her twin sister Beverly Wilson; her father; her step-father Ralph Legates and sister Tammy Robinson.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Nelson Funeral Home, with a service to follow.
