On Sunday, September 29th at 2:00 p.m., head to the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center to learn about vermicomposting from the director of the Cornell Waste Management Institute in Soil and Crop Sciences, Jean Bonhotal.
Vermicomposting is a composting process that relies on worms turning food waste into nutrient-rich organic fertilizer. Jean will go into detail regarding her work and experience with composting, which exceeds 25 years. Each family that participates will receive a 5-gallon bucket, red worms, and bedding to begin their own bucket composting at home. Registration is required for this program as space is limited.
The fee for this program is only $4 per person, or $12 for a family. Children under the age of three are free! Preregistration is requested. For more information and to register, visit http://thatscooperativeextension.org/events.
