When someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer's, friends and families have many questions.

The Alzheimer's Association has developed a three-part program to provide caregivers with the knowledge, tools and strategies that are essential in coping with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's or related dementia in a family member or friend.

Bishop's Commons Enriched Living Residence will be host "Living with Alzheimer's for Middle Stage Caregivers," a three-part education program presented by the Alzheimer's Association, at 3 p.m., Monday, May 6, 13 and 20.

Bishop's Commons is located at 4 Burkle St., in Oswego. The educational program is free of charge and open to the public.

The educational program will address symptoms associated with mid-stage Alzheimer's disease, communication issues, providing personal care, behavior changes, medication management, home safety and other care options such as day programs or in-home care to better suit caregiver needs.

Registration for "Living with Alzheimer's for Middle Stage Caregivers," workshop is required. Register by calling 315-596-4016, extension 125.

For more information about this event or other workshops scheduled in the series, please contact Kobie Decker of the Alzheimer's Association of CNY at 1-800-272-3900 or Bishop's Commons at 315-349-0799.
