Established last year, the SUNY/Senior "Exploring Art" program has grown in popularity among residents who have had the opportunity to either renew their interest in creative art, or simply try something new. This Fall SUNY Oswego Art Program student Intern Clare Salisbury-Ruf is spending two three-hour sessions a week in the Art Studio at the Enriched Living Residence, offering direction, expertise, and support to anyone who wants to participate.
With the help of Salisbury-Ruf, this semester has brought new mediums that include drawing, charcoal work, and water color. "It has been a new experience for our residents who are looking to learn, explore their talents in a friendly, and creative environment," explained Activities Assistant Cheryl Cullinan.
"The relationship with the SUNY Oswego Art Department has given our Residents an opportunity that they might not otherwise have ever had," noted Senior Living Coordinator, Julie Chetney. "Students who we have had the pleasure of working with bring enthusiasm, interest, and talent to our folks, who in turn become excited about trying something new."
