Gardner was reported missing by his family on April 16, 2024 and was believed to be the person observed in the river on April 14, 2024.

On 5/3/24 @ 6:53am, Oswego Police and Fire departments were dispatched to the Oswego Harbor along the north shore of the Port Authority for a reported body in the water.
The body was recovered and has been tentatively identified. At the direction of District Attorney Anthony DiMartino, the body was transported to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner for an autopsy and positive identification.
