Residents of the village of Pulaski are being advised by the Oswego County Health Department to continue to boil all water used for drinking and cooking due to repairs to the municipal water system earlier this week, amid current water testing to confirm there is no contamination.
The boil water order remains in effect until Monday, May 12 when the results of water testing are now expected. The Health Department will notify residents when they no longer need to boil their water.
Officials said the water system lost pressure on Wednesday due to a water main valve replacement North Jefferson Street. The Village of Pulaski Department of Public Works completed the repair and restored water pressure throughout the village. Staff have taken samples to confirm there is no contamination in the distribution system and are waiting for test results.
Residents are advised to bring tap water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute and cool before using. They can also use bottled water certified for sale by the New York State Department of Health.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills most bacteria and other organisms in the water.
