In the Fall of 2013, nine health and human service organizations organized to form the Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition to support the aging population by preventing falls through education and awareness.
In 2018 the Falls Prevention Coalition came together and decided that the group could broaden its scope of work to encompass additional areas of need to support the aging population. The Falls Prevention Coalition then became The Caring Community Advocates of Oswego County.
Caring Community Advocates of Oswego County is a group of local organizations interested in meeting the needs of older adults in our county, focusing on the areas of wellness and quality of life. The group will work with community organizations to identify and address needs of the aging population such as: falls prevention, social opportunities, financial information and resources, wellness and exercise classes, information about medical resources, nutrition education, and other needs expressed by the population and caregivers.
Caring Community Advocates of Oswego County is also dedicated to providing education to its members to ensure that we as a professional community are well versed and knowledgeable about the services, classes, and opportunities for the aging population in Oswego County. Educational opportunities will include presentations at bi-monthly meetings from committee members and local organizations about services for the aging population and caregivers in Oswego County.
