Music Camp is coming back to West Baptist Church in Oswego, and this year the theme is 'Catch the Wave!'
Campers will experience a fun introduction to the science of sound – and sound waves – along with some hands-on experience with rhythm instruments, recorders, and hand bells. Choral music, crafts, snack time, and games will also be a part of the camp, including the return of the ever-popular 'wet Wednesday' when campers get to cool off with some mildly wet games and activities.
This is the seventh year for West Baptist's 'Make a Joyful Noise: Summer Music Camp.' The camp will be held from 5:30-8:15 p.m. starting Monday, July 15 to Friday, July 19. The week will end with a performance for family and friends Friday evening, put on by the children and followed by refreshments. The church is located at the corner of West Third and Mohawk Streets in the city of Oswego.
The camp is completely free of charge, and all children from 4 to 12 years old are welcome to attend. Students are encouraged to work on a musical talent of their own before camp begins so they can share it with other campers during the week. Any camper who would like to perform before the group should mention this when they register for camp.
Registration takes time, especially on a child's first night at camp. Staff will be on hand to register campers at the church starting at 5:15 p.m. If you have questions or would like to pre-register, contact Pam King at 315-216-4248.
