Write a commentCatherine G. "Gen" Smegelsky, 84 and a longtime resident of Liverpool, passed away Friday evening in St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was born in Oswego and was the daughter of the late John and Mary Doyle Trowell and adopted and raised by John and Katherine Smegelsky. She had been employed for many years at Dietz Lantern Co.
She is survived by one daughter Mary (Pat) Virginia of Warners, three sons William (Lauri) Smegelsky of Webster, John "Ben" Smegelsky of Cocoa Beach, FL, James (JoAnn) Smegelsky of Oswego, one brother Rev. John Smegelsky of Oswego, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two children, Susan Cook in 1984, Frank Smegelsky in 2010 and a dear friend Harold Chatterton.
Funeral services will be Tuesday 10:00AM in St. Mary's Church. Calling hours 4-7PM Monday at the home of Rev. John Smegelsky 187 ½ West Seventh St. Oswego. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
