Robert Dumas is a new vocal teacher at the Oswego High School and has been working with the Chamber Singers for only a short period of time.

However, recently Dumas brought his singers to the Rotary meeting at the American Foundry and what unfolded was a memorable performance.
After the tragic events in Newtown, Conn., Friday, Dec. 14, Dumas and his singers performed with heavy hearts. However, a piece entitled "Prayer of the    Children," which focused on the death of young children who died after a hospital they were patients in was bombed in war torn Eastern Europe, was dedicated to the children and adults who were killed in Newtown.

Not a sound was heard from the audience and tears appeared in the eyes of many. The thoughts of the listener turned to not only those who had died, but also toward the survivors.

It was a sad, emotional song, but the holiday season emotion has been changed significantly by the events of Dec. 14. The video of the piece will be on the Oswego City School District website (www.oswego.org)

The Oswego High School Chamber Singers included sopranos Samantha Davis, Erin Delaney, Catie Geroux, Hannah Griffin, Cassie Hondro, Julie Knight and Maddison Neuland along with altos Erin Chetney, Lauren Dafoe, Taylor Hamer, Emily Hurlbutt, Courtney Osmun, Kaela Shafer and Tara Stacy.

Tenors were Michael Crisafulli, Joseph Ruggio, Ryan Smith, Matthew Spaulding and Nicholas Williams while singing bass were Justin Abbott, Cameron Caruso, Duane Crapser II, Colton Dryden, Benjamin McCrobie, Zemiah Phrance and Tyler Rigby.

The Chamber Singers also performed "Cry Out and Shout," "Fum, Fum, Fum," "Deck the Halls" and "O Magnum Mysterium."
