Charles A. Sabin III, 92, a former resident of the town of Oswego, passed away Saturday, at St. Luke Health Services.

He joined, and proudly served, in the USMC during WWII. He returned home in 1946 and managed the operation of the Larchmont Dairy on Perry Hill in the town of Oswego. The farm had been owned and operated by his parents, the late Charles and Isabel (Gleason) Sabin, since 1920.

In 1947, he married Bernice Henderson, the love of his life, and the mother of his two children.

He was active in many farm organizations, including the Oswego County Farm Bureau, Extension Service, Soil and Conservation, and the county and state Registered Holstein Clubs.

He served on the Oswego County Board of Legislators, and as a councilman on the Oswego Town Board. For 22 years, he was the Town of Oswego Assessor, and was also a member of the Oswego Town Republican Committee.

Mr. Sabin was a past master of the Hannibal Masonic Lodge #550, and a member of the Oswego County Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Friends of Oswego County Hospice, and the board of Fairdale Cemetery.

He was a member of the West Baptist Church of Oswego.

Prior to his retirement, he served at the State University at Oswego as a Lieutenant in the Campus Police Department.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bernice Henderson Sabin of Oswego; a son, C. Albert (Victoria) Sabin of Marcellus; a daughter, Judith Sabin Watson of Oswego; a grandson, Christopher (Jaime) Watson of Clifton Park; a granddaughter, Meara (Jeff Allen) Sabin of Auburn; three great-grandchildren, Grady Charles Allen, Jenna Marie Watson, and William Charles Watson

The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful care and support that was provided for Mr. Sabin by the staff at St. Luke Health Services.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 Saturday September 24th at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.

Burial will be in Fairdale Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home
