Charles C. O'Connor, 87, a resident of Sterling, passed away Oct. 13, 2013, at St. Luke Health Services.
Born in North Volney, he was ason of the late William and Lucy (Coe) O'Connor and husband of the late Mary Ellen (Shortslef) O'Connor.
Charles was a career boilermaker, Local 175, Oswego.
He was a charter member of the Boilermakers Local 175, and also had served as recording secretary and treasurer. He was a life member of the Elks 271. He was very instrumental with the organization of volunteers and actual construction of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Hannibal.
Charles loved golf and mowing his lawn. He was a very devoted family man.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Flint and Kathleen Garrison, both of Oswego, and Nancy (John) Gagnon, of North Carolina; three sons, Charles (Denise) O'Connor and Jeffrey O'Connor, both of Oswego, and John (Nancy) O'Connor, of Dexter; four sisters, Lorraine Waldron and Elizabeth (Jack) Mosier, both of Sterling, Ernestine Allen, of Brewerton, and Cynthia (Thomas) Hirsh, of Hannibal; 16 grandchildren, Jamie Flint, Robert Flint, Lisa Hughes, David O'Connor, Erin Goldman, Timothy O'Connor, Kevin O'Connor, Sean O'Connor, Shandon O'Connor, Joseph O'Connor, J. Patrick O'Connor, Molly O'Connor, Amber Garrison, Connor Gagnon, Meagan Gagnon and Ryan Gagnon; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, James, William, Harold and Thomas O'Connor; one sister, Ida Stevens; and a great-grandson, Noah Flint.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct.18 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Hannibal. Burial will be in Springbrook Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany Street, Oswego.
