Charles E. Davis, 78, a resident of East Oneida Street, in Oswego, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012.
Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Flora (Jones) Davis.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran from 1954-58, serving on board the USS Renoake CL-145.
Charlie was third-generation owner of R.E. Davis & Son Automotive. He loved his business and people he dealt with. He was a well-respected businessman.
He was the founder and past president of Tini Time Sportsman Club for 40 years. He was a Mexico volunteer fireman; founding member of Oswego New Car Dealers Association; and a member of the Democratic Committee in Mexico.
Charlie loved spending time at his "cottage" in Henderson Harbor and was well known as the best smallmouth bass fisherman.
He is survived by three daughters, Patty (Mike) Domicolo, Jeanne Davis and Julie (Jake) Restuccio; two sons, Charles "Billy" (Sherry) Davis and Tim Davis, all of Oswego; two sisters, Sally Maitland, of Pulaski and Dorothy Strader, of Georgia; nine grandchildren, Taralea Martelli, Aubree Davis, Charles, Emily and Hayley Domicolo, Elizabeth and Kyle Davis and Lauren and Nicolas Souva; and many lifelong friends who he enjoyed life with.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn (Williams) Davis; and a sister, Frances Messena.
Calling hours will be held from 12-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, with a service to follow, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St. Oswego.
