Oswego's Annual Independence Celebration will be marking 50 years of family, fun and fireworks this summer.
To celebrate this golden anniversary in style, the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce's Parade Committee is working on some special attractions for the parade on Sunday, July 7.
"We are hoping to hire some special bands to add excitement to the parade," said Lisa Gray, events manager for the Chamber. "We are holding several fundraisers to increase our band budget because the flashier and bigger the units are, the more they charge for their performances."
To help with the fundraising efforts, the Oswego Elk's Lodge #271 will be hosting a chicken barbeque from noon until sold out, Sunday, April 21, eat in or take out, at the Elk's Lodge located at 132 W. Fifth St., in Oswego. Dinners include a half chicken, salt potatoes, baked beans, cole slaw and a roll with butter.
Advanced sale tickets $8 and are available now at the Chamber offices – 44 E. Bridge St, Oswego, and 12 Canalview Mall, in Fulton. Tickets for children aged 10 and younger are $5. The day of the event, tickets at the door will be $10. Tickets can be purchased online at www.oswegofultonchamber.com.
