The First United Methodist Church of Fulton welcomes all to the meeting of a new monthly book club.

The Read and Feed Book Club will be held the first Thursday of each month from 6:30 p.m. till… The book for May 4th will be Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. The North Country Library System has numerous copies (regular and large print) available; contact your local library if interested. Please read the book before the meeting and bring comments for discussion.

It begins outside a burning plantation hut in Louisiana… and an East Texas honky-tonk… and, without a doubt, in the heart of God. It unfolds in a Hollywood hacienda… an upscale New York Gallery… a downtown dumpster… a Texas ranch. Gritty with pain and betrayal and brutality, it also shines with an unexpected, life-changing love.

“Same Kind of Different As Me is a compelling story of tragedy, perseverance, triumph, dedication, faith, and the resilience of the human spirit. Ron and Denver, you truly are my heroes. This is a must read” – Red Steagall (Texas Poet Laureate).

“The most inspirational and emotionally gripping story of faith, fortitude, and friendship I have ever read. A powerful example of the healing, restorative power of forgiveness in the transformational, life-changing power of unconditional love”– Mark Clayman (Executive producer – Pursuit of Happiness).

Participates may bring snacks to share. At each meeting, members may bring a donation for a non-profit. This meeting will be a collection of non-perishable items for the church food pantry.

After the book discussion, there will be a vote for the next non-profit to “feed” and our next book. Please bring ideas of a Christian book, so the group may discuss for the June 1st meeting.

The First United Methodist Church of Fulton is located at 1408 State Route 176, just across from the Junior High School. The book club will be held downstairs in the Friendship Room. Please park (behind church) and enter through the main glass doors. For more information, visit http://www.fultonfirst.org/ or email kdemott@oswego.edu.
