CiTi BOCES Early Childhood Education Program Prepares Students for Teaching Careers

The CiTi BOCES Early Childhood Education (ECE) program is providing high school students with meaningful, hands-on experience working with young children while exploring careers in education.

Students participate in daily classroom placements where they build skills in communication, classroom management, patience and adaptability.

The program allows students to gain a realistic understanding of the responsibilities and rewards of teaching. Through direct interaction with children and mentorship from educators, participants develop confidence and professional readiness for future careers in education and childcare.

“This program has definitely opened my eyes on the difficulties there are in teaching, and has taught me how to adapt and use patience,” said Madeline Rubley, a student in the ECE program, placed at Sandy Creek Central School District. “To get to come in every morning to see the students makes my day.”

CiTi BOCES’ ECE program helps prepare students for postsecondary education and careers in the growing education field. To learn more about career and technical education offerings at CiTi, visit CiTiboces.org/CTE.
