Fulton’s newest café, CoCo Café, held its ribbon cutting at 9:30 am this morning, December 3.
CoCo Café is a unique store front café owned by CiTi Boces for educational purposes. Located at 129 Cayuga Street in Fulton, next door to CNY Arts, it offers the opportunity for the students of the program to become more independent and enter a community relationship with the public. They serve hot and cold coffees, hot chocolate, teas, smoothies, bagels and several of the most delicious looking cookies you can imagine. With displays of artwork provided by the students and small items for purchase, this café is sure to be a hit!
The process of getting this store front was a bit rocky, according to the director. “We had a few hurdles to jump through from grease traps to zoning but 4 years later, we are here.” They will staff 9 students in the mornings and 9 in the afternoons, Tuesday through Friday, 9am until 2:30.
According to Mayor Jim Rice, the building has been vacant since Kathy's Cakes moved out several years ago.
These students have trained for their positions within the café. They had a small shop in the Fourth Street Building for staff and teachers. They know how to be of service, and they are ready to welcome the City of Fulton to enjoy the café.
