Write a commentStudents in the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation Project Explore program recently constructed bluebird houses and bat houses for the Oswego County Soil and Water Conservation District's (SWCD) 44th Annual Spring Tree & Shrub Sale.
Project Explore (formerly known as Multi-Occupations) provides students with an opportunity to explore various vocational mediums such as carpentry, welding and retailing.
The SWCD's spring sale is primarily about the sale of trees to the public to aid in reforestation, shade, erosion control and wind and snow breaks. The birdhouses and bat houses will also help to improve wildlife habitats in Oswego County.
The Project Explore students not only gained experience in carpentry, but also experience in customer service and retailing. 50 birdhouses and 50 bat houses were made.
According to oswegosoilandwater.com, SWCD's objective is to, "carry out a program of soil, water and related natural resource conservation by providing technical assistance and programs to residents, landowners and units of government."
